Roads Powering Progress
New Network to Reduce Travel Time Across 10 States

India’s infrastructure growth received a major boost with the announcement of 52 new national highway and expressway projects covering more than 3,200 kilometers. These projects aim to enhance inter-state connectivity, reduce travel time for logistics, and support upcoming industrial corridors. The Ministry of Road Transport highlighted that the initiative will significantly cut transportation costs for businesses.
The projects span across key states including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal, creating a unified and modern road network. Priority segments include high-traffic commercial routes and rural bypasses designed to decongest city cores. This will help improve freight efficiency while offering safer commuting options for the general public.
With the adoption of green construction technology, the government plans to reduce the carbon footprint of road development. Recycled materials, solar-powered lighting systems, and improved drainage technology are expected to form a core part of the construction strategy. Such sustainability-driven measures align with India’s broader climate goals.
The long-term economic impact of these projects is expected to be substantial. By integrating remote regions into national supply chains, the highway program will encourage regional industries, improve job creation, and boost tourism potential. The first set of roads is projected to be completed by late 2027.
