Civic Responsibilities Underline Strong Nationhood

On Constitution Day, PM appeals for active participation, especially from youth and first-time voters

On 26 November 2025, marking Constitution Day, Narendra Modi wrote a heartfelt letter to all citizens, urging them to not only value their rights but fulfill their constitutional duties to strengthen India’s democracy.

He emphasised that voting is not just a right but a responsibility urging citizens, especially first-time voters, to participate actively in elections. He suggested that schools and colleges celebrate Constitution Day by honouring young voters turning 18.

Recalling the ideals of dignity, liberty, and equality that the Constitution stands for, Modi reminded readers that every law, policy, and citizen’s action today shapes the India of tomorrow. He urged people to view the Constitution as a living document one that requires respect and responsibility.

The message seeks to foster civic awareness and patriotism, underlining that a vibrant democracy depends not just on good governance but on responsible, engaged citizens who honour the spirit of the Constitution in daily life.
